Hey guys -
We're back! And this week's podcast has a little bit of everything --
We go into the NFL, specifically about where the various teams stand overall and discuss the impact that the laundry list of high-profile injuries that occurred week 7.
We talk about our disdain for the teams in the World Series and how our rooting interests have been made complicated by one of our usual dumb bets that we make...
...which leads us to do a sort of NBA preview, since we've decided to make yet another bet on who we see winning the NBA title this upcoming season. Of course, we don't agree.

When Sports Break Bad
We went a little long on this one, but there was a lot to talk about.
We answered some NFL questions...
Can anyone challenge the big swinging dicks in each conference -- Denver and Seattle?
Are the other unbeatens for real -- KC, NE and NO?
What the hell is happening in Cleveland?
How about the Lions, Bengals and Bears? Oh my.
We also touched on some COLLEGE FOOTBALL...
Who will be USC's next coach now that Lane Kiffen has been run out of town.
Is Nick Saban destine for Austin, Texas?
Who's the biggest threat to Bama's crown?
And as much as it pained us, as fans of the Angels and Cubs respectively, we even delved into the BASEBALL playoffs.
Finally, as we didn't want to leave with a sour taste in our mouths, we went ahead and discussed the BREAKING BAD FINALE.
Oh, and one last thing. Go Cats.
Enjoy...

How to Choose a Winner in Sports
In today's podcast, we jump right into the original purpose of the blog, which is discussing and criticizing Josh's stupid game picks that he posts on his blog. He didn't do terribly this last week, but also, not too great. Hence, why Josh also lost to Dan in fantasy football this pas weekend.
We then discuss some of the controversial sporting events from the past week that were seemingly decided by poor officiating, including college football or the Sport Formerly Known as Boxing.
Other stuff is discussed and as usual, it's all random bullshit. Enjoy.

Football: The Higher Learners and the Working Professionals
Also known as the awesomeness that is College Football and the NFL...
In this edition of the Friday Night Rewrites Podcast, we look back at the opening weekend of the college game and give some pretty mild opinions. We also delve into my NFL Preview blog post (which can be read at -- http://rmogsports.blogspot.com/2013/09/2013-nfl-season-preview-predictions.html) and see where my cohort agrees and disagrees with me on what we should expect from the early part of this season.
*In fairness we recorded this podcast yesterday, prior to the Broncos shellacking of the Ravens
If you're new to our podcast, the idea began with this -- I make all kinds of inaccurate predictions in my blog (although I believe they're brilliant at the time), then after the event I was prognosticating actually happens, my buddy Dan and I discuss how wrong I was. That's how we came up with the name -- Friday Night Rewrites.
By the way...
Me, the blogging genius = the shirtless asshole below in the Angels hat
My cohort, the podcast extraordinaire = the dipshit in the green shirt
Anyway, here's how we plan to give you our lack of wisdom this NFL season...
Thursdays -- I'll write up a blog post with my predictions for the upcoming weekend's games
The following Tuesday -- Dan and myself will post our weekly podcast, laughing at how wrong I was and looking back at the weekend that was, both for college and NFL (he's more of a college football guru than I am)

Damn We're Ready For Some Football
As exciting as it's been to watch the rigors of the NL Central play out, we (an Angels fan and a Cubs fan respectively) are somewhat pumped for football to finally be here (thank GOD!). So we've delved into all of our podcasty goodness and recorded our college football preview -- we cover all of the major conferences, national title hopefuls (USC is discussed in the former not the latter) and the biggest games on the docket. We even jump into some fantasy football breakdown as we just had our draft.
Also, Go Cats.
Also, Go Cats.

Who's Worse -- Superstar Athletes or Walter White?
In this edition of the Friday Night Rewrites Podcast we touch on Alex Rodriguez and the Biogenesis scandal, and a little Johnny Football & NCAA regulations. We also delve into what we expect from the final 8 episodes of Breaking Bad, which will premiere this Sunday August 11th. How did we ever make the connection between the power-drunk athletes we watch on the field and the power-drunk meth dealer we watch on TV you ask. What can I say, we put A LOT of thought into these podcasts.
If you're not caught up on Breaking Bad, you'll want to stop listening once we jump into it. We do courteously offer a SPOILER ALERT in the podcast before we get to it.
To read a more extensive piece about steroids in baseball and the general state of the game, you can check out my last blog post, "Baseball is Dying, but Steroids isn't the Killer" at http://rmogsports.blogspot.com/

Which Awesome NBA Squad is the Awesomest?
In this 4th edition of the Friday Night Rewrites Podcast we chat about the pecking order of the NBA after all of this offseason maneuvering. We also touch of Yasiel Puig, the British finally winning their own tennis tournament and exactly what the fuck just happened to Anderson Silva.
It's gonna be a long drought before football starts. Not sure how much "Pirates/Orioles chat" we're gonna put in between now and then. So we hope you enjoy these 15 or so minutes.

The NBA Finals in Review and Some Other Stuff
In this third installment of the Friday Night Rewrites podcast we take a look back at the NBA Finals and talk about the future of both Miami and San Antonio. And as usual we address some of the stupid ass things I said in my blog post, prior to the start of the series. If you're keeping score, that blog post can be found at http://rmogsports.blogspot.com/
We also touch on the Stanley Cup Finals, Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer (pre-Wimbledon round 2), the Confederations Cup (that's a soccer tournament by the way) and the curious tale of Aaron Hernandez. Please enjoy the 15 minutes and 120 seconds we have compiled...

Previewing the NBA's Final 3.5 and Melo-ing Out
Just to kind of reset the general idea behind all of these podcasts, here's why we're doing it -- I (Josh) say a bunch of shit on my blog (rmogsports.blogspot.com) and then a week or so later we podcast about wrong I was. Some of my gems from Round 1...
- Boston will beat New York
- Denver is going to the Western Conference Finals
- No way Chicago beats Brooklyn
- I like the Clippers over Memphis
Like a typical half ass writer, I completely laid an egg on my deadline and didn't write a blog post for Round 2 of the NBA Playoffs. So we just decided to go ahead with the podcast and discuss the Conference Finals, and the non-value of Carmelo Anthony, without the joy of mocking my documented incompetence.
We also found time to discuss some of the disappointing LA area MLB teams, some NHL playoff talk and other random stuff that comes up during our very non-structured "discussion" about sports. Enjoy!

(Inaugural Podcast) "NBA PLayoffs, Round 1 Rewrites"
Welcome to the first ever podcast of myself and my partner in crime, Dan Hess. Dan and I are both television writers. And anyone who knows writers, knows they'll do ANYTHING to put off the task of actually writing. Our procrastination of choice is generally talking about sports, so we figured why not record it?
The not-so-clever, contrived title, "Friday Night Rewrites" comes from our joint love of the Friday Night Lights TV series and sort of perfectly sums up the whole idea behind this thing, which we explain in more detail in the podcast.
We'll generally try to post these on whatever Friday follows my most recent blog post, which can be found at - http://rmogsports.blogspot.com/
